Christoph Hovanec (dudley ghost) was born in the state of New York (the
exact location is unknown) on May 7, 1976. He has worked with many
independent artists as a vocalist, guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist until
finally deciding to venture out as a solo artist. His music has been
shaped by many diverse influences including The Breeders, Teenage
Fanclub, and Aphex Twin as well as various composers of video game
music. Some of the many musical styles that are weaved together in his
work are glitch, electro, ambient, and alternative.
His 2008 release Courage, was composed over the course of several
years using archiac computers, numerically devised tones, R&B drum
loops, and field recordings. It has been garnering positive reviews on the
internet.
It’s not hard to tell where this New York based producer gets his
inspiration from. Claiming to be “manufactured out of trash, poverty,
drugs, violence, and crime,” his digitally distorted industrial drum kits,
metallic clinks, and somber echoes give the impression of a rat-infested
back alleyway buried deep in the caverns of some neglected city. There’s
a very dark world inside Dudley’s head. Allow him to give you a tour.

In dudley ghost’s upcoming 2009 release Uncanny Valley,he takes a
decidedly bold musical turn by including vocals as haunting choruses,
barking slogans, and strained whispers. This forthcoming album strives
to achieve a balance between carefully planned chaos and rigid
structures in order to more accurately illustrate the themes of sadness,
violence, and the tattered psyche of the artist. dudley ghost has claimed
that his ultimate musical goal is to present his music in such a way that
each song would be immersive, mentally stimulating, and have an almost
visual quality.
